Military / police uniforms tailoring service helper

I do not know how it is in other countries, but in Poland, the uniforms are produced in few “sizes”, just like T-shirts, trousers etc. However, each officer, when he/she gets the uniform, is directed to tailoring service to make adjustments, ensuring it looks almost like tailored one. With a huge number of officers, and a fact that everyone has few uniforms, every improvement in tailor-service means money saving.

In this project, I coordinated the work of few software developers, working on acquiring data from 3D scanners, consolidating the data in full 3D model, noise removal, simplification, pushing it to database and synchronizing databases from measurement stations. Additionally, there was the graphic user interface, allowing the administration of databases, creation of statistics etc. A big part of this application was a module used by tailors to grab the required measurements.

Apart from coordination, I also worked on a 3D visualization and measuring module, allowing to grab the values important for the tailor, without actually seeing the person.

The project itself was not very complicated, however that was my first contact with a software for end-customers, developed in the proper way, with UX/UI project, unit tests, integration tests etc. It was still a relative novelty at that time (~year 2005), alongside the Scrum framework, which was also used here.

Exemplary screenshot from the measuring module.
